The SAA highlights its participation in the 4th Regional Meeting of National Committees on Trade Facilitation
Recently, the Seed Association of the Americas (SAA) took part in the 4th Regional Meeting of National Trade Facilitation Committees, jointly organized by the Latin American Integration Association (ALADI) and the World Trade Organization (WTO). The event took place at ALADI’s headquarters in Montevideo, Uruguay, with the aim of strengthening intergovernmental cooperation to facilitate trade, especially through digitalization initiatives.
The meeting addressed key issues such as the digitization of phytosanitary documents, through systems such as ePhyto. In the session on trade facilitation in agricultural products, the executive director of the SAA, Diego Risso, presented the private sector’s perspective on reducing trade barriers in agricultural goods. His intervention highlighted the positive impact of public-private collaboration in accelerating international trade.
During the meeting, the importance of digitizing trade procedures and documents to improve the efficiency and sustainability of trade in the region was underscored. Representatives of international organizations such as IICA, TFAF and STDF also shared experiences and inputs on these initiatives.
The SAA reaffirms its commitment to trade facilitation, working together with public and private actors to promote a more agile and efficient trade environment for the benefit of the agricultural and seed sector in the Americas.
